Even though it is known that so-called ghouls are on the loose in Tokyo, shy student Ken Kaneki would never have thought it possible to meet one himself.
On a date with his crush Liz, however, he learns that she is a ghoul herself, whereupon she immediately begins to eat him. This situation alone would be enough for him to take a sip from the "Tokyo Ghoul" Drinking Glass to calm down afterwards.
But before Ken knows it, he becomes a half-ghoul himself and has to come to terms with his new identity. Fortunately, he is warmly welcomed by the ghouls at the coffee shop Anteiku. Here he learns to deal with the abilities he now has. The image on the drinking glass shows him in his ghoul form with his Kagune on one side and his custom made mask on the other.
