If you ask yourself why Pokémon is so popular as a game, you'll probably come up with an ancient human instinct pretty quickly: hunting and gathering. It's simply in our nature to get dopamine from catching the cute pocket monsters. By the way, it doesn't matter at all whether you collect them on your Gameboy or wander around the city with your smartphone.
