With 20,000 different cards and over 35 million players worldwide, Magic: The Gathering is a giant among collector card games. The premise sounds pretty easy: reduce your opponent’s life total to zero with the help of creatures and spells in order to win. But then, enchantments, artefacts and Planeswalkers come into play – and just like that, everything becomes more complicated. Not to mention that the Golden Rule, of all things, is that every rule can be changed!

With all the stress a Magic duel can cause, it’s good to have something to drink with, like this Magic the Gathering Tankard. The officially licensed, hand-painted tankard is decorated all over with elements from the card game. Most obvious is the Magic logo on the handle and the Planeswalker symbol on the top of the tankard. In the centre are the five Mana symbols representing certain colours or lands: Blue (Island), Green (Forest), Black (Swamp), Red (Mountains) and White (Plains). Each of the round symbols is ornamented with small but extremely precise details representing the philosophies and magical properties of the colours – for example, crows and depravity for Black and fire and technology for Red. At the bottom of the tankard, check out the adjectives, which are reminiscent of the ideals and values of the Planeswalkers.

If you pull this tankard out in the middle of your game, it might unsettle your opponent – and after you’ve won the duel, you can drink to your victory!
