Hard to believe now, but the (real) DeLorean DMC actually sold rather badly, probably due to the fact that production had stopped before the "Back to the Future" trilogy was made. Also hard to believe is that at one point the producers even thought about using a fridge as a time machine!
Now, we ask you: Which one has more charm?! The answer is wrapped up in the fact that we just can't see ourselves ever offering you a 'collector's fridge'!
Marty McFly: "Wait a minute, Doc. Ah... Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?"
Dr. Emmett Brown: "The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?"
* Definitely not a fridge then!
The style that Doc is talking about is now available for your home (in this time zone!). Unfortunately, real DeLoreans aren't often seen on the road nowadays. Besides, you'd need to clean up your garage for a real model. But this 1:43 scale die-cast model from "Vitesse" will not only park itself neatly in your cabinet, but the details are awesomely realistic. Flux capacitor included!
Doc: "You'll have to forgive the crudeness of this model. I didn't have time to paint it or build it to scale".
Actually, Doc, it is to scale: –a perfect 1:43. But this one is fully-detailed and of course has the legendary gull-wing doors. And what's more, you can open them! The model is made of metal and presented in a display case (to prevent it reaching 88 miles per hour and tripping off somewhen!).
This is not a simple toy, but rather a high-quality collector's piece and is screwed in place. You don't need to open the display case, because, cleverly, a small mirror makes it possible for you to view the car from all sides.*
* Should you decide to break open the display case, please remember you are unable to return to the past to undo your actions! So please be careful ;).
