The story told in the 1979 science fiction film Alien is not a new one. But the way director Ridley Scott and his team told it made the body horror flick an absolute cult film. Even after more than 40 years, it has lost none of its fascination. The facehugger alone has become one of the most legendary creatures in film history and part of pop culture.
The English language book Alien Vault - The Definitive Story Behind the Film immerses you completely in the world and history of the film. On 192 pages you get a detailed look behind the scenes, for example into the director's notes on storyboards, Polaroids or script pages. You will also find the original drawings and floor plans of the Nostromo, costume designs by Moebius and, of course, concept drawings by H.R. Giger. It was ultimately these - along with Sigourney Weaver's portrayal of a badass female protagonist - that made the film so special.
The 2019 reissue also includes an additional chapter on Ridley Scott's further work on the Alien saga with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant!.
