Ever since astronautics became a thing, humanity has invented stories about the things that await them out there in space. Of course, there are funny, heartwarming and other pleasant descriptions of interstellar encounters and extra-terrestrial discoveries. However, the most fascinating thought seems to be that the unsettling blackness of space holds unspeakable horrors.
The classic cosmic sci-fi horror is the film “Alien”. In 1979, director Ridley Scott managed to utilise the horror of solitude and infinite space for this film. Together with H.R. Giger, he created a monster without complex CGI effects, which was way more horrifying than anything before, and horror film history was made.
Which you can honour with this Alien Limited Edition Badge Set.
The set, of which there are only 1000 worldwide, consists of six nickel pin badges modelled in detail on symbols and characters in “Alien”. Of course, the logos of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the USCSS Nostromo are a must, and the famous side profile of the survivor Ellen Ripley in her spacesuit is included as well. Three more badges depict the titular Alien: one in the form of a Facehugger, whose sole purpose is to implant a Chestburster into a host and which created a legendary horror scene; another badge is based on the fully-grown Xenomorph, and the last depicts the deadly inner jaw that the Xenomorph is known for – and that Ripley would probably have preferred to not come as close to as she did in the third film.
