Tick tock tick tock tick tock...
The sound of a normal clock... a normal old analogue clock with the usual hands and numbers on a normal clock face... like you find in most living rooms and offices...
Well, it doesn't have to be for a true geek! Those kinds of clocks are far below your level, right? A geek of your standing has totally different requirements in a clock: It has to be technical, it has to be interesting, extraordinary, fascinating... or as we simply say 'round these parts, geeky!
No other clock meets these requirements better than the Time Machine.
The Time Machine combines ingenious technical stuff with something really simple – marbles!
We can hear your question... "Marbles?!" Well, this might sound a little odd, and it is odd of course – just as it is should be ;)
How does it work?
The Time Machine displays the time using 26 marbles on 3 different tracks.
There is one track for the current hour, one for the current 5-minute step, and a third one to determine the exact minute.
Every full minute, an automatic marble transfer arm takes a marble from the stock and places it on the highest track. This starts a chain reaction which places the marbles in a way that they show the current time.
The time is read by the number on the track where each last marble is lying.
In addition, there is also a turntable to display the seconds.
E.g. on the main picture it's currently 7:32, (or 19:32).
It's best to have a look at the video to get a first impression.
The Time Machine is a striking sensation in any room, sure to grab the attention of all your technical and geek visitors.
A note of caution: Don't think about placing it in your bedroom, not only because it won't get as much attention as it deserves, but also because the marbles are not very quiet when rolling along the tracks. Especially on the hour, when several marbles set out, things do get quite lively! But who would want it any other way :)?
